Return to Thailand

October 27, 2014

Getting back to Thailand wasn’t so easy.  Or it wasn’t as easy as we thought it would be.

First was a flight from Toulouse to Munich.  It got diverted to Stuttgart.  We missed our flight to Singapore.  Wait a few hours then fly to Frankfurt.  Wait another 9 hours and catch the last flight out to Singapore.

Arrive Singapore to find we missed our ongoing non refundable flight to Phuket.  Book on Tiger Air but fail to realize that in order to have 20kg each I have to push the button twice.  Pay $160 in overweight baggage fees but get into Phuket only 4 hours past our original arrival time.  Not bad – the hotel reservation is still good and the rental car is still waiting.

So what’s it like to fly all that way. Well, when I put shaving cream on my toothbrush, lock the key in the room and panic when I can’t find something then everything is normal!  I realize I need to slow down and let the jet lag pass by.

However, we want to see Sage.  We get a good nights sleep and head off the next morning to see Sage.

Wow – that sounds like a nightmare! Glad you made it though, and hope Sage is in good form!

    Tony:
At least your flight was not rerouted over the Ukraine. Give ‘Sage’ a warm embrace for me.
There’s a storm setting in tonight I believe the weatherman has named Anna and no, the rain is no longer warm. So far as shaving cream on the toothbrush, isn’t that normal? Enjoy it while you can. I noticed an ad tonight which read “Old fartess seeks old fart.”
    Should I answer?

Glad you are back safe. The jet lag is awful something I don’t truely remember from past adventures. I have a sinking sensation it might be associated with an age thing. Hope Sage is well take care.

Still enjoying your posts Tony and Connie. Hope you find Sage in good order and condition. We have traded Crusoe for land in Costa Rica – not moving there though! The trip to KK and back to Alaska in 10 days entailed 32 hours ground time between the 4 flights going there and ‘only’ 23 hours ground time on the return. That did me in!

Tony, Tony, Tony… how many times have I warned you about smoking that shit before travel?
I didn’t know you had fur on your teeth.. no wonder you use shaving cream.
Hopefully Sage is in top form and all is now well. Keep it coming Captain…

    Hi Connie and Tony! 🙂
I was so pleased to hear you are in Thailand. Jeff and I are heading there for a month from Nov 8th-Dec 6th.
How long will you be there for? We’d love to connect while we’re there!
We will be in Bangkok for the first week then we’ll head to the islands. We’ve kept our plans very loose as we have a handful of friends down there now that we’re hoping to catch up with.
    Keep us posted 🙂
    Much love,
    Elliott
