The Gathering
August 12, 2026
Achill Island was not something that would have come first in our minds to visit Ireland. The idea of coming here was initiated by an Irish/Canadian friend who wanted to come to Achill to scatter his wife’s ashes.
Having Achill Island as one of the main focuses of the trip has been a treasure. It’s far up on the northwest coast of Ireland and open to all the nature of the north Atlantic. It’s a treasure.

That’s it for now. On to Dublin tomorrow.

Great photos! Thank you.
A wonderfilled and yet sad report from Ireland. The weather I’m saying… Thanks, keep it coming mate. W

Oh my !
Only 2 pictures with blue sky and lots of rainy ones!
And what a motley looking crew for the boat ride.. Yikes! Your cap is very ‘fetching’ Tony!???????Did you get it there or did you take it with yu? Did Anne. Ag’s old friend get there in the end? Did she try to get into bed with DWC? Did everyone get along on Achill Island?
No words from DWC at all. I have his itinerary and it looks like he went from Galway to Dublin today, Will you see him there?
And so it goes here.. a little croquet, some VHS database work, I finally finished a painting I have been working on since last summer. Wake up and go to bed and in between shop at TF’s and cook supper and use leftovers for a soup the next day. Today we went to BCAA and bought our condo insurance for $1500 for the year and went to The Fig for lunch Yum!!
The weather has been passable but too windy for me to sit out on the deck to read much.
We look forward to seeing your next Shutterfly booK.
I hope the rain stops sometime soon! That must be a bummer and it probably inhibits your photography.
Ciao for now,
Annie B.
Beautiful scenery, looks wet and a little cold though,….i think i only saw one picture without clouds
Wow. A soul-stirring collection of images & thoughts!
